We are very excited to announce that our Project Explorer is now live on the CanWaCH website! With the Project Explorer, users can explore Canadian overseas financial commitments to Reproductive Maternal and Newborn Child Health (RMNCH) using Official Open Data. Users can filter by country and by sector, and can use the browser to look up further information about specific projects and download raw data. The Project Explorer is a collaboration between CanWaCH and the Canadian International Development Platform. Start exploring now!

The first draft of the Global Accelerated Action for the Health of Adolescent (AA-HA!) Implementation Guidance is now available for online public consultation. The 68th World Health Assembly requested the WHO Secretariat to develop the AA-HA! Implementation Guidance in consultation with youth, Member States and major partners, and aligned with the Global Strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health (2016-2030) and its Operational Framework. This outline has been developed based on inputs received during the first round of consultations.
As we develop our program for the CanWaCH International Conference on Adolescent Health taking place May 16-17, 2017 in Ottawa, we want to hear from our partners! CanWaCH will be hosting a webinar on January 19th from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm EST where our partners will have the opportunity to share with us the topics, issues and discussions related to adolescent health that you want to experience at our conference. Join Amref Health Africa and CanWaCH to mark the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) on Monday, February 6, 2017; 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in Ottawa, Ontario.
The reception with Parliamentarians will feature Nice Nailantei, a young Maasai woman from Kenya who spoke out against FGM at the age of 8 and who now works with communities to adopt a rite of passage for girls that forgoes FGM. CanWaCH is pleased to have signed on with Women Deliver to become an Ally Organization to the Deliver for Good Campaign. Launched during the May 2016 Women Deliver Conference, The Deliver for Good Campaign is a new global push that applies a gender lens to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and promotes 12 critical investments – political, programmatic, and financial – in girls and women that will bring high returns for women and for societies in decades to come. Measuring data and increasing the capacity of our partners’ measurement and evaluation efforts is a key focus of CanWaCH. To support those efforts, CanWaCH has joined the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data. The organization is comprised of governments, international organizations, companies, civil society groups, and statistics and data communities who represent all sectors of society and all regions of the world, dedicated to achieving the Global Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. SRH Week will take place from February 12-18 with the theme: Ready for some pillow talk? The 2017 campaign will build on last year’s “What’s Your Relationship Status” campaign by asking health care providers and clients/patients to “start the conversation” for the best possible care. Open communication between health care providers and clients/patients is crucial to sexual and reproductive health. Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights will be launching a quick reference book for health care providers and a blog series spotlighting health care providers making a real difference. Of course, any campaign needs strong voices to really make a difference.
