OTTAWA – The Global Adolescent Health Conference, which took place from May 16-17 in Ottawa, was a tremendous success! The gathering of 340 attendees featured keynotes by Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Amina Mohammed, Minister of International Development Marie-Claude Bibeau, and Princess Sarah Zeid of Jordan. The Global Accelerated Action for the Health of Adolescents (AA-HA!) Guidance to Support Country Implementation was officially launched at the conference along with the Advocating for Change for Adolescents Toolkit.

Conference Youth Council members tell attendees what they heard over two days in Ottawa.

Youth voices, led by the Conference Youth Council, helped to deliver a powerful message that adolescent health is the key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Every Woman Every Child Targets. We are pleased to announce that recordings of all keynotes, plenaries and breakout sessions can be viewed on the new CanWaCH YouTube Channel! Official photos of the event are also available in the Conference Photo Gallery and on the CanWaCH Facebook Page.

GENEVA – The conversation around adolescent health as key to Promoting Health Through the Life-Course continued the following week at the 70th World Health Assembly in Geneva. The highly-anticipated gathering also celebrated the election of Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as WHO Director-General. Adolescents and youth continued to take centre stage as WHA showcased youth representatives sharing their experiences and perspectives on engaging citizens. More about adolescent health at 70th WHA is available here.

Let’s keep the #GlobalYouth2017 Conversation going! Here’s what you can do.
