Message from CanWaCH Executive Director, Helen Scott:
We were so pleased to meet with and hear from many of you last month at our Beyond 2020 Conference. Over 230 civil society representatives, government officials, academic experts, health professionals and inspiring youth gathered to discuss the way forward for Canada’s women and children’s health programming overseas. Ideas were shared, new paths were put forward, important projects were highlighted, and lessons learned from the past were analyzed.
Now we have shifted focus to the Conference’s outcomes and keeping the focus and momentum going. Our Conference Discussion paper was presented on Day 1 of the Conference and it will help form the base for the Conference Outcomes document, which will be shared with all of you. Keep an eye on our Conference page and our YouTube Channel for all the post-Conference updates, awards information, videos of the sessions, photo galleries and more!
Later this month the global health community will meet in Geneva for the 71st World Health Assembly. I am very pleased to announce that I will be attending this year. This year’s Assembly theme is Health Throughout the Life-Course and it will feature topics such as sexual and reproductive health, interpersonal violence, early childhood development, maternal, infant and young child nutrition, poliomyelitis and the Global Vaccine Action Plan. Stay tuned for more CanWaCH coverage of the World Health Assembly.
Until next time, we wish you all the best.
