Organizations across Canada are amplifying their efforts to tackle gender inequalities throughout the world and are working to ensure that every woman and child has the right to survive and thrive. This is no small order, as women and girls continue to be the hardest hit by poverty, climate change, natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
Since 2010, the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH) has brought together civil-society organizations, professional associations, academia, healthcare institutions and other interested parties from across Canada to foster increased collaboration in tackling the pressing health-related issues that women and children face in developing countries. According to CanWaCH member Action Against Hunger, “collaboration and partnership is key, particularly in the aspects of improving evidence-informed programming and amplifying advocacy.”
Our network of members and associates represents a concerted effort to share resources, knowledge and experience in women and children’s health. Members and associates not only drive the value of our network, they are also the beneficiaries of the increased collaboration and knowledge sharing that it encourages.
“Being a member of CanWaCH is an opportunity for collective action in support of the best health outcomes for women and children around the world by sharing best practice, through policy dialogue and by promoting the benefits of international aid to Canadians to build their ongoing understanding and support.”
Members of CanWaCH have access to a wide variety of benefits, including:
- A full public profile complete with project and contact information on the CanWaCH website
- Access to the CanWaCH Member Portal, which allows members to post opportunities, events, articles, and resources
- Access to the CanWaCH Project Explorer, which allows members to input project data
- Voting rights at the CanWaCH AGM
- Discounted access to CanWaCH events and training opportunities
- Access to apply for any of the CanWaCH working groups and ad hoc committees
Members are enthusiastic about the the value of being a part of the CanWaCH network. According to WaterAid Canada, “Membership with CanWaCH enables WaterAid Canada to connect with civil society in Canada and collaborate with organizations that share common values.” Opportunities to connect, both virtually and in person, are abundant.
As CanWaCH member UNICEF Canada explains, “Being a member of CanWaCH is an opportunity for collective action in support of the best health outcomes for women and children around the world by sharing best practice, through policy dialogue and by promoting the benefits of international aid to Canadians to build their ongoing understanding and support.”
