Mobilizing for Gender Equality: A Celebration of Canada's GE Week 2020

To mark Gender Equality Week, we’re hosting a special virtual convening from September 23 - 24! Join us for two days of diverse multi-day programming led by experts in advocacy, education, policy development, research, programming and more. Exchange expertise, experiences and lessons learned with some of the sharpest minds in gender equality and global health.

DAY 1: SEPTEMBER 23

OPENING CEREMONY | 10:00 AM EDT

To mark the start of Canada’s Gender Equality Week (GE Week), the General Assembly of the United Nations (UNGA) and Beijing+25 Celebrations, this opening ceremony will highlight the GE Week theme for 2020 and share participants' vision for creating a more gender-just world post COVID-19.

This session marks the launch of CanWaCH’s Gender Equality Training Modules hosted by training developer Jennifer Donville. Session 1: Measuring Empowerment - The Way Forward in Localization 

A practical lunchtime session to further strengthen capacity in applying a gender equality lens to MEAL (monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning) and using a feminist approach as a priority to advance women’s empowerment. Programmatic experts will share practical examples of their work and how to operationalize feminist practices across project stages. We will be structuring this conversation around the question: How does the integration of empowerment support localization?

This lunchtime session aims to further strengthen capacity in proposal writing while incorporating a gender equality lens. Presenters will provide practical solutions, examples and strategies around proposal writing with a GE lens to suit the needs of a variety of funders, both private and government.

This roundtable discussion features a diverse panel of experts who will unpack the current state of Canada’s leadership in global health and gender equality. Panelists will seek to answer key questions like: What is Canada’s role as a global health leader? As a feminist funder? As a leader of Action Coalition 6 for Generation Equality? This roundtable discussion will be followed by an audience Q&A.
