Dr. Helen Scott
Dr. Helen Scott is the Executive Director and one of the founders of CanWaCH. She is an established Canadian public health leader, with significant experience in women’s and children’s health and international development. As an Epidemiologist, she is passionately committed to securing tangible, measurable results to improve health and nutrition in communities of the most vulnerable. She has expertise in strategic advocacy, government relations, and fostering smart partnerships.
Dr. Scott is responsible for overseeing all areas of CanWaCH and its work, including policy management, strategic planning, visioning in cooperation with the Board of Directors, program management, personnel and financial management, risk analysis and providing leadership for the CanWaCH team.
Dr. Scott completed a doctorate in epidemiology at the University of Toronto, where she won the Vanier Canada Scholarship in the first year it was awarded and a postdoctoral fellowship in childhood disability. She has achieved results in a variety of national and international public health agencies, including Health Canada and the World Health Organization. Helen is also involved in numerous child focused initiatives in her community, including serving 16 years on her children's school's Parent Council. In her spare time, Helen can be found on a baseball field, soccer pitch, ice rink or volleyball court cheering, coaching or joining in the game.
